José Monroy

José Monroy, born on May 4, 1980, is a Portuguese racing driver with a diverse career spanning multiple racing series. Monroy began his racing journey in 2007 in the Portuguese Touring Car Championship, where he quickly found success, securing the championship title in 2008. He then ventured into the European Touring Car Cup in 2009, finishing eighth overall. His career progressed into the SEAT León Eurocup in 2014. In 2015, Monroy marked his debut in the TCR International Series with Veloso Motorsport, driving a SEAT León Cup Racer. In 2019, Monroy participated in the CER-GT Championship with the MDriving Racing Team, driving a Mercedes AMG GT4, with Tecnovia Ambiente and Ocean Pellets as sponsors.

Beyond his racing career, Monroy has also been involved in driver development. He founded MDriving, an event company specializing in sports, defensive, and evasive driving. Additionally, he established a kart school in 2017. He is an instructor of sports driving at AIA Racing School and MDriving.

Monroy's achievements include being a three-time National Touring Car Champion (2008, 2009, 2010), a National GT Champion in 2011, and a champion in the world's longest race (32 hours) in 2014. In 2025, Monroy achieved victory with Pedro Macedo Silva in an AC Cobra 289 at Portimao in the GT & Sports Car Cup.
