Filipe de Melo

Filipe de Melo, born on June 10, 1989, is a Macanese racing driver. He is best known for competing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship and the Macau Grand Prix. de Melo began his racing career in karts in 2000, and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of the top drivers in Asia. In 2006, he made his debut in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, driving for the Chevrolet RML team. He finished 16th in the championship, and was named the Rookie of the Year. de Melo continued to race in the WTCC for the next two seasons, before moving to the FIA GT1 World Championship in 2009. He raced for the Vitaphone Racing Team, and finished 10th in the championship. In 2010, de Melo returned to the FIA World Touring Car Championship, driving for the SUNRED SR Racing Team. He finished 11th in the championship, and won one race. de Melo has also competed in the Macau Grand Prix every year since 2005. He has won the race twice, in 2010 and 2012. de Melo is one of the most successful racing drivers in Macau, and is a popular figure among racing fans. He is known for his aggressive driving style and his ability to race in the rain. He is currently racing in the TCR China Touring Car Championship.
