Anthony "Tony" Bates is a seasoned Australian racing driver with a diverse motorsport background. Born on May 20, 1969, Bates has accumulated a wealth of experience across various racing disciplines, showcasing his adaptability and passion for the sport. With over 360 race starts under his belt, he's a familiar face in the Australian GT Championship, where he currently competes.

Bates' career highlights include victories in the CAMS Australian GT Championship. In 2017, he achieved a significant milestone by winning a race in Adelaide, propelling him to the championship lead early in the season. He has also participated in prestigious events such as the Bathurst 12 Hour, driving a variety of GT cars, including Porsche GT3 Cup Cars, Aston Martin DB9s, and Audi R8 LMS machines before switching to a Mercedes-AMG GT3. Recently, he made a comeback to racing at the Phillip Island round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia after a nearly year-long absence.
