David Murry, born January 29, 1957, is an American former professional auto racing driver with a career spanning various racing series. He has competed in NASCAR's Nextel Cup Series and the ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series. Beyond NASCAR, Murry has participated in numerous road racing series, including the Michelin Pilot Challenge, the GT World Challenge America, the Rolex Sports Car Series, and the American Le Mans Series.
Murry's career began in Formula Fords in 1981 and quickly built a reputation for speed and consistency. He progressed through the Sports Renault series, securing numerous race wins and ultimately claiming the 1985 Sports Renault Championship. In 1991, Murry began long-term relationships with manufacturers, initially driving an Esprit for Lotus and achieving two immediate race victories. This success led to a Porsche factory driver contract. Driving a Porsche 911 Turbo, he won the World Challenge Championship and also represented Porsche at Le Mans in their LMP1 car. Later in his career, BMW contracted Murry to drive their BMW M3-GTR.
Since 2009, Murry has focused on "David Murry Track Days," offering personalized instruction, interactive class time, and in-car video analysis to help drivers improve their skills. His significant accomplishments include multiple appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with two podium finishes, and an SCCA World Challenge Championship.
