Christian Danner

Christian Danner, born on April 4, 1958, is a German former racing driver and current television commentator. Danner's motorsport journey began in 1977, directly after finishing school. He quickly ascended the ranks, becoming a works driver in Formula 2 by 1981. His career reached a significant milestone in 1985 when he clinched the FIA Formula 3000 Championship. This success propelled him into Formula 1, where he raced for teams such as Zakspeed, Osella, Arrows, and Rial between 1985 and 1989.

Following his time in Formula 1, Danner transitioned to touring car racing, becoming a regular in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM). He also participated in the World Endurance Championship and prestigious 24-hour races at Le Mans, Spa, and the Nürburgring. Beyond Europe, Danner also ventured into the American IndyCar Series, contributing as both a driver and later as a team principal. He also competed in Japanese Formula 3000 in 1990.

Since 1998, Christian Danner has been a prominent figure in German television, serving as a co-commentator and Formula 1 expert for RTL. His expertise has earned him accolades, including the German Television Award in 1999, and nominations in 2012 and 2017. He was also honored with the Golden Gong for his TV work and the German Police GdP Star Award in 2001 for his contributions to road safety.
