Michael RUTTER

Michael "The Blade" Rutter, born on April 18, 1972, is a highly accomplished British motorcycle racer with a career spanning over three decades. Rutter comes from a racing family, with his father, Tony Rutter, being a celebrated racer in the 1970s and 80s, winning seven Isle of Man TT races and four Formula Two World Championships. Following in his father's footsteps, Michael began his professional racing career in 1992.

Known for his exceptional skills in wet conditions, Rutter has earned the nickname "The Blade." His favorite circuit is Oulton Park. Throughout his career, he has achieved significant success in various racing categories, including the British Superbike Championship, where he has secured 29 race wins, finishing as series runner-up twice. He has also participated in MotoGP and World Superbike Championship events. Currently, he competes in the National Superstock 1000 Championship aboard a BMW S1000RR.

Beyond circuit racing, Michael Rutter has established himself as a prominent road racer. He has won 14 times at the North West 200 and has seven wins at the Isle of Man TT, including five in the TT Zero class. His achievements at the Macau Grand Prix are particularly noteworthy, where he holds the record for the most wins (9) and podium finishes (20). In 2024, Michael Rutter marked 30 years since his TT debut. To honor Michael and his father Tony, the section formerly known as ‘Glen Helen 1’ will be renamed in their collective honor.
