Kosuke Matsuura

Kosuke Matsuura, born on September 4, 1979, is a Japanese race car driver with a diverse career spanning several racing series. He is currently competing in the Super GT series. Matsuura's early career success includes winning the Japanese Formula Dream Championship in 2001, which led to his inclusion in Aguri Suzuki's driver development program, the ARTA Project. He further honed his skills in Europe, finishing 2nd in the 2002 German Formula Three Championship and 3rd in the 2003 European Formula Renault V6 Eurocup.

Matsuura transitioned to the IRL IndyCar Series in 2004, driving for Super Aguri Fernandez Racing. He earned the Bombardier Rookie of the Year title in his debut season and was also named the Rookie of the Year for the Indianapolis 500. He continued in IndyCar for several years, achieving a career-best 13th place in the 2006 season. In 2008, Matsuura returned to Japan to compete in Formula Nippon, and later transitioned to Super GT, where he continues to race. His Super GT career includes racing in both the GT500 and GT300 classes, achieving a win in GT500 class in 2017 in Rd.6 Suzuka.
