Ryan Phinny

Ryan Phinny, born on October 31, 1989, is an American racing driver hailing from Los Angeles, California. Currently, he competes in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, driving the No. 51 Ligier LMP3 for Rick Ware Racing.

Phinny's career began in karting before transitioning to Formula BMW USA in 2005. In 2006, competing full-time, he secured a 9th place finish in the points standings with one podium. He gained experience in various series, including the Rolex Sports Car Series' GT class, the American Le Mans Series, and a surprise appearance in Indy Lights in 2011. In 2014, with sponsorship from George Clooney's Casamigos Tequila, he returned to open-wheel racing after a stint in endurance racing. Phinny's career also includes participating in the Red Bull Racing American F1 Driver Search, BMW, Porsche, and multiple General Motors brands across international racing series.

Beyond racing, Phinny has ventured into the business world. In 2019, he co-founded The Motoring Club, a private automotive social club and storage facility in Los Angeles. He also joined Fourth Capital as Vice President of Sports & Entertainment in 2023. Notably, racing runs in his family, as his father, Pat Phinny, also competed in Formula Super Vee and Indy Lights. With a Hollywood legacy, his great-grandfather Harry Beaumont directed "Speedway" in 1929, one of the first movies filmed at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
