Marc Benz, born on November 15, 1982, in Altstätten, is a Swiss racing driver with a diverse career in various motorsport disciplines. Benz began karting at a young age and transitioned to car racing in 1999, quickly making a name for himself in German Formula Ford, securing the title in his second year. In 2001, he achieved a milestone as the first Swiss driver to win a race in the Formula Renault Eurocup at the Nürburgring, finishing as the runner-up in the championship.
Despite early promise and being considered a rising star, Benz's career faced challenges. A frustrating Formula 3 season in 2002 with the Swiss Racing Team led to an early exit and a stall in his progress. Reflecting on his career, Benz acknowledged the intense focus on reaching Formula 1, which might have led to missed opportunities, including offers from Renault, Mercedes, and Porsche.
Benz has competed in several series, including Porsche Supercup, Formula Renault 2000 Eurocup, and Formula Renault V6 Eurocup. More recently, he has been associated with Sorg Rennsport (2018-2019), priconracing (2014-2017), and Toyota Swiss Racing Team (2013-2014). He also worked as an instructor at Philippe Favre's racing school.
