Sergio Hernandez

Sergio Hernández von Rekowski, born December 6, 1983, is a Spanish racing driver from Xàbia, Spain, best known for his participation in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Hernández began his racing journey in karting from 1998 to 2001 before transitioning to formula racing, competing in Portuguese Formula BMW and Spanish Formula Toyota. He debuted in Spanish Formula Three in 2002 with the Azteca team, remaining with them through 2003, and also participated in British Formula 3 and the World Series Light season.

His touring car career began in 2007 in the WTCC, driving a BMW 320si for Proteam Motorsport. After participating in nine rounds, he ranked 20th in the driver's standings. Continuing with Proteam in 2008, alongside Stefano D'Aste, Hernández achieved his first podium finish at the WTCC Race of Japan, securing third place. That year, he also claimed his first Independents' Trophy. In 2009, he joined BMW Team Italy-Spain, partnering with Alessandro Zanardi. He secured points in his first race as a works driver. He won the WTCC Independents' Trophy again in 2010.
