Racing Driver Niclas Jönsson

Niclas Jönsson, born on August 4, 1967, is a seasoned Swedish racing driver with a diverse career spanning multiple racing disciplines. Currently competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Jönsson's journey in motorsports has taken him from IndyCar to NASCAR, and sports car racing.

Jönsson's early career included stints in Scandinavian Formula Three, European Formula 3, and Formula Asia, where he achieved considerable success, including winning the 1991 Swedish Formula 3 title. He transitioned to the United States, participating in the Indy Racing League in 1999 and 2000. His foray into NASCAR saw him make a single Busch Series (now Xfinity Series) start in Montreal in 2007, showcasing his adaptability to different racing formats.

However, Jönsson is perhaps best known for his accomplishments in sports car racing. He has been a consistent presence in the Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series, and later, the FIA World Endurance Championship. Partnering with Tracy Krohn for many years, he co-drove the No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTE-Am. A highlight was in 2012, finishing third in the GTE-Am championship. His achievements include class wins at prestigious events like the 12 Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans in 2011. Beyond racing, Jönsson has also worked as a test driver, safety instructor, coach, and owns a motorsport parts shop, demonstrating his comprehensive involvement in the racing world.
