James Appleby

James Appleby, born on December 26, 1988, is a British racing driver with a diverse background in motorsport. Currently 36 years old, Appleby's career has spanned various racing disciplines, showcasing his adaptability and passion for speed. He is presently competing in the French GT4 Cup, demonstrating his continued commitment to GT racing.

Appleby's racing journey began unconventionally, initially participating in quad bike endurance racing before transitioning to rallying in an MG ZR and later a Subaru. In 2008, he shifted to circuit racing, entering the SEAT Cupra Championship. He later progressed to Aston Martin Racing, earning the "Star of the Future" award in 2010. A significant achievement came in 2011 when he won a race and set a lap record in the European GT4 championship at Spa while driving an Aston Martin GT4. In 2014, Appleby participated in the British GT Championship in a Bentley Continental GT3.

Beyond driving, Appleby is involved in the management side of racing. He is the team principal for both Invictus Games Racing and Generation AMR SuperRacing. He also directs the road car tuning and servicing at David Appleby Engineering (DAE). His career includes instructing in race/performance cars and contributing to the development of Aston Martin's track-only hypercar, the "Vulcan." As of 2025, Appleby has 33 starts with 1 podium finish.
