Born on June 26, 1984, Tappy began his racing journey in karting before transitioning to single-seaters. He quickly made a name for himself by winning the prestigious Formula Ford Festival in 2005. In the same year, he showcased his talent in the British Formula Ford Championship, securing 10 victories and finishing second overall, which led to a nomination for the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award. He continued his success in single-seaters, claiming the Formula Renault UK title in 2007.
