Raceroversigt
Matthew Stephen Phillip Neal, born on December 20, 1966, is a highly accomplished British motor racing driver, best known as a triple British Touring Car Champion, securing the title in 2005, 2006, and 2011. His career is further decorated by a record six BTCC Independents Champion titles, earned in 1993, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2005, and 2006. Neal has also tasted victory in the European Touring Car Championship, showcasing his talent on an international stage.
Neal's journey in motorsport began in Motocross before transitioning to cars in 1988, competing in the Ford Fiesta XR2i category. He quickly demonstrated his potential, becoming the British Group N Champion in 1990 and 1991. His early successes also include co-driving a BMW M3 to victory at the Willhire 24 Hour race at Snetterton in 1990. Standing tall at 6' 6" (2 m), Neal's height has made racing single-seaters impractical, leading him to focus on touring car racing.
Beyond his achievements on the track, Neal is the Group Marketing Director at Rimstock, the alloy wheel manufacturer founded by his father, Steve. He has also made several appearances on the BBC show Top Gear. He lives in Shenstone, Worcestershire, and remains a prominent figure in British motorsport.
