Jonathan Summerton is an American race car driver born in Kissimmee, Florida, on April 20, 1988. He began his racing career in karts at the age of 14 before transitioning to the Skip Barber Series. Summerton quickly made a name for himself in Formula BMW USA, winning the series scholarship and finishing second in the championship in 2004. The following year, he competed in the international BMW series, securing a second-place finish at Spa-Francorchamps.
In 2006, Summerton raced in the Formula Three Euro Series, achieving notable results, including a win at Hockenheim. He also participated in the A1 Grand Prix series for A1 Team USA, claiming victory in the feature race at Shanghai and a second-place finish in Mexico City. In 2008, he raced in the Atlantic Championship for Newman Wachs Racing, winning two races and finishing third in the points standings. Summerton signed with the USF1 team, but the team folded due to funding issues. In 2009, he competed in the Firestone Indy Lights Series and Atlantic Championship races.
After a hiatus, Summerton returned to racing in 2012, joining Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing for the 12 Hours of Sebring, which he won in the GTLM class with teammates Joey Hand and Dirk Müller. He also recorded the fastest race laps at two events and finished third at Petit Le Mans. More recently, he has competed in series such as the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America and the Pirelli World Challenge. Outside of racing, Jonathan is an entrepreneur in the medical and financial space.
