Gennaro Bonafede

Gennaro Bonafede, born on September 18, 1990, is a South African racing driver with a diverse career spanning karting, local championships, and international GT racing. Bonafede's passion for racing ignited at a young age, and he began karting at the age of 5. His early talent was evident when he clinched the 1997 Cadet Class Championship at just seven years old. After a brief break, he continued karting, even venturing to the United Kingdom to compete in British karting events.

In 2007, Bonafede transitioned to saloon racing, joining the South African Volkswagen Polo Cup. In his debut season, he demonstrated promise with a podium finish and a pole position. He also gained international experience with a participation in a round of the European Polo Cup. He achieved second-place finishes in the Polo Cup in both 2008 and 2009. Later, Bonafede competed in the Sasol GTC Championship from 2016 to 2018, showcasing his abilities in the local racing scene.

Bonafede expanded his racing endeavors to Europe in 2019, participating in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and the Intercontinental GT Challenge. He secured an Am-class win at his home race during the 2019 Kyalami 9 Hours. Throughout his career, Bonafede has demonstrated his versatility and determination, accumulating a record of 16 wins, 10 pole positions, 77 races, 38 podium finishes and 20 fastest laps.
