Přehled závodníka
Rory Butcher, born on March 16, 1987, is a British racing driver hailing from Kirkcaldy, Scotland. Known for his versatility and determination, Butcher has made a name for himself in various racing disciplines. He currently competes in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with Toyota Gazoo Racing UK.
Butcher's career spans several racing series, including the Scottish Formula Ford Championship, Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain, British Formula Ford Championship, British GT Championship, and the European Le Mans Series. He made his debut in the BTCC in August 2017 with Motorbase Performance at his home circuit Knockhill, replacing the injured Luke Davenport. Since then, he has become a consistent front-runner in the series, securing 11 wins, 31 podiums, 5 pole positions, and 8 fastest laps. He secured the BTCC Independents' Trophy and the Jack Sears Trophy in 2019. In 2019, 2020 and 2022, he finished inside the championship top five.
Off the track, Rory is the events operation manager at Knockhill Racing Circuit, owned by his father, Derek Butcher. His brother-in-law is Gordon Shedden, a three-time BTCC champion. Although he is taking a sabbatical from BTCC in 2024, he has expressed his intention to return to the series in the future and has left the door open for a possible return. In 2024, Andrew Watson replaced him in Toyota Gazoo Racing UK.
