Robert Masson

Robert Masson is an American racing driver who embarked on his professional motorsports career later in life, driven by his son Kyle's passion for racing. A distinguished neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery and sports spine medicine, Dr. Masson balances his demanding medical career with his love for competition on the racetrack.

Masson's racing journey began after supporting his son Kyle's burgeoning racing career, eventually enrolling in the Skip Barber Racing School himself. He entered the IMSA Prototype Challenge Series in 2017 and quickly found success, earning seven podiums and a win at Road Atlanta in 2018 with Performance Tech Motorsports. In 2019, he secured a notable second-place finish at the prestigious Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona in the Le Mans Prototype 2 Class, co-driving with his son Kyle. He also participated in the 2020 Rolex 24.

Beyond racing, Masson maintains an active and adventurous lifestyle. He is a skilled aviator and diver and enjoys mountain climbing and other outdoor activities. He sees his participation in motorsports as an extension of his commitment to health, wellness, and pushing personal limits, even after undergoing his own spinal surgery. He exemplifies that it is possible to continue operating at a high level even after spinal surgery.
