Robert Kauffman

Robert Kauffman, born on June 6, 1964, is an American businessman, investment banker, racing team owner, and racing driver. He is widely known as the founder of Fortress Investment Group, from which he retired in 2012. Beyond his financial career, Kauffman has made significant strides in the world of motorsports.

Kauffman's involvement in racing extends to team ownership and driving. In October 2007, he acquired a stake in Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR), a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team. Additionally, he owns RK Motors, a car collection and restoration business located in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he resides. As a driver, Kauffman has participated in prestigious sports car racing events, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2011, 2012), the 24 Hours of Daytona (2012, 2013), and the Rolex Sports Car Series. His racing record includes competing in 37 events between 2007 and 2013, primarily driving Ferraris.

In July 2014, Kauffman was appointed chairman of the Race Team Alliance, a collaboration between several top-tier NASCAR teams. Further solidifying his presence in the sport, he acquired a stake in Chip Ganassi Racing in July 2015. Furthermore, Rob is an advisory board member of McLaren Racing, a leading United Kingdom based Formula1 racing team. These moves demonstrate Kauffman's deep commitment to and investment in the upper echelons of professional racing.
