Richard Dean is a former British racing driver and successful team owner. Born on October 7, 1964, in Leeds, Yorkshire, Dean began his racing career in karts before transitioning to single-seater racing in the 1980s. He progressed through the ranks, competing in Formula Ford 1600, British F3, and Formula 3000, showcasing his talent with multiple race wins, including the Oulton Park Gold Cup in 1990. He also spent time racing in Japan in various categories like F3, GT, and Touring Cars.

Dean achieved a significant milestone in 2006, winning the GT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans while driving for Team LNT alongside Lawrence Tomlinson and Tom Kimber-Smith. Earlier in his career, he secured the 1996 Dunlop Rover Turbo Cup title with a dominant performance. In 1998, he won the British GT Championship driving a Dodge Viper.

In 2009, Dean co-founded United Autosports with Zak Brown, a team that has become a prominent force in sports car racing. Beyond his achievements as a driver, Richard Dean has also been involved in team management and driver development, including a stint as Managing Director of Ginetta Cars, where he oversaw the development of racing series supporting the British Touring Car Championship. He continues to be involved in historic racing and classic car restoration through United Autosports.
