Riccardo Ponzio

Riccardo Ponzio is an Italian racing driver born on June 11, 1997, in Pescara, Italy. Ponzio's career has spanned various racing disciplines, showcasing his adaptability and passion for motorsport. After initial appearances in the Italian Endurance Championship in 2015, he transitioned to single-seater racing, debuting in the Italian F4 Championship with Teramo Racing Team. He secured a 10th place as his best result at Misano World Circuit. He continued in the same championship in 2016 with the same team.

In 2017, Ponzio competed in the F2000 Italian Formula Trophy, where he remarkably won 7 out of 14 races, including a victory at Imola Circuit. This outstanding performance led him to clinch the championship title at Monza Circuit, accumulating a total of 420 points. His success in the series was marked by 12 consecutive podium finishes, including 7 wins and 3 pole positions. He also participated in the European Le Mans Series in 2018 with Oregon Team, driving a Norma M30 LMP3. In 2019, he finished second in the Italian Championship Prototypes.

Ponzio has also experienced the thrill of driving a Formula 1 car, participating in the BOSS GP European Championship in 2020-2021. Driving a Jaguar R3 Formula 1 car, he achieved two second-place finishes and a third-place finish in the Open Class. In 2022, he joined Imperiale Racing in the Italian GT Championship, driving a Lamborghini Huracan GT3. Sharing the car with James Roe Jr. and Sebastian Balthasar in the PRO-AM category, they secured a victory at Vallelunga Circuit and a podium finish at Monza Circuit. Most recently, in 2024, he has been competing in the Italian GT Championship - Endurance - GT3 Pro-Am with AF Corse, showcasing his continued commitment to GT racing. He graduated with a degree in Economics and Management.
