Mark Skaife, born on April 3, 1967, is a highly celebrated Australian former racing driver. Skaife's illustrious career is highlighted by five V8 Supercar Championship Series titles (including its predecessor, the Australian Touring Car Championship) and six Bathurst 1000 victories. He announced his retirement from full-time touring car racing on October 29, 2008.
Skaife's journey began in kart racing during the 1980s in New South Wales. He later moved to Melbourne to apprentice under Fred Gibson. He secured three consecutive Australian Drivers' Championships from 1991-1993. Skaife's career gained momentum driving for Gibson Motorsport (formerly Nissan Motorsport Australia) from 1987 to 1992, notably piloting the Skyline GT-R. In 1998, he joined the Holden Racing Team (HRT), becoming a prominent figure following Peter Brock's departure and winning three V8 Supercar titles between 1998 and 2003.
Since retiring, Skaife has remained active in motorsport as a commentator and presenter for various networks. He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2004 for his contributions to motor racing and charity. Skaife was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2024. Beyond driving, Skaife has contributed to motorsport through roles such as chairman of the V8 Supercars Commission and involvement in track safety and design.
