Jean-marc Gounon

Jean-Marc Gounon, born on January 1, 1963, is a French former racing driver with a career spanning various motorsport disciplines. Gounon's passion for racing ignited early, influenced by his father, a motorsports enthusiast. He quickly demonstrated talent in karting before transitioning to single-seater racing.

Gounon achieved significant success in the French Formula 3 Championship, securing the title in 1989. He then competed in International Formula 3000 from 1990 to 1992, showcasing his abilities with wins at Pau and Vallelunga. In 1993, Gounon made his Formula 1 debut with Minardi, participating in two races. The following year, he joined Simtek, where he achieved a commendable 9th place at his home race in France, the team's joint best result.

After his time in Formula 1, Gounon transitioned to sports car racing, achieving success in the FIA GT Championship and participating in prestigious events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He drove for teams like Persson Motorsport Mercedes-Benz, achieving a second-place finish at Oschersleben in 1998. In 1997, he finished second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans driving a McLaren F1 GTR. Gounon continued to race prototypes until 2007, demonstrating his versatility and passion for motorsport.
