Hailing from Tampa, Florida, McGee's journey began not on the asphalt, but in the virtual realm of sim racing. He quickly gained recognition as an "Alien," a term used to describe sim racers with extraordinary speed and skill. McGee honed his skills on iRacing, eventually winning the iRacing/Mazda championship.

His sim racing prowess led to a groundbreaking opportunity in 2015 when he won the Mazda Road to 24 Shootout, earning a $100,000 Mazda scholarship. This marked a pivotal moment, launching his professional racing career in the Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup series with Sick Sideways Racing in 2016.
