Gerhard Watzinger is an American racing driver with experience in a variety of racing series on both national and international levels. Born on July 4, 1960, Watzinger began his racing career later in life, fueled by a childhood passion for cars and Formula One, particularly inspired by Niki Lauda.
Watzinger has competed in series such as IMSA DP-02, Radical prototypes, Formula Ford, LMP3, Wolf GB08, Lamborghini Super Trofeo, and Lamborghini GT3. He currently participates in 24-hour endurance races and sprint races around the world. His accomplishments include winning the 24 Hours of Barcelona in 2022, the 24 Hours of Sebring and Dubai in 2021, and the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in 2017. In 2013, he secured the US Championship in the Radical SR8 Prototype Series. In January 2025, he raced in the Michelin 24H Series Middle East Trophy in Dubai, finishing first.
Beyond racing, Watzinger is the Chairman of the Board at CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company, bringing his analytical skills from the tech world to the track. He has earned 73 podium medals in his racing career, demonstrating his skill and dedication to the sport. He has also participated in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, showcasing his talent in GT3 racing.
