David Whitmore

David Whitmore is a British racing driver who defies expectations. Hailing from a council estate in Oldham, he's made a name for himself in the "gentleman's sport" of racing. Whitmore is currently racing in the 2021 British GT Championship with Ciceley Motorsport in a Mercedes-AMG GT4. He hopes to consistently achieve podium finishes with the ultimate goal of winning the championship.

Whitmore's motorsport journey began nearly a decade ago in sprint and hill climb events with a Clio 172. Since then, he's honed his skills in various racing series, including Tin Tops, the Mazda MX5 Cup, BMW Compact Cup, Civic Cup, BMW M3 Cup, Polaris SXS, Club Enduro, and Britcar. Notably, he achieved first-place finishes in the M3 Cup and at Spa in Tin Tops. In 2019, driving a BMW M4 with teammate Luke Sedzikowski, he won the first two races in the 750 Motor Club's Club Enduro, finishing third overall in the championship. 2020 saw Whitmore winning his first British GT GT4 race in the BMW M4 GT4. Later that year, he had the privilege of participating in the Gulf 12 Hours endurance race with AMR racing in an Aston Martin GT4 at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Whitmore's path to racing wasn't typical. His first experience with GT racing was watching from outside the fence at Oulton Park as a child because he couldn't afford a ticket. He is also open about being dyslexic. Described as a keen communicator, the 6'6" Whitmore has become a force to be reckoned with.
