Chris Buncombe, born Christopher James Buncombe on May 5, 1978, is a British racing driver with a diverse and successful career in motorsport. Hailing from a racing family, with his grandfather and father both having competed, Chris developed a passion for racing early on. He began his career in karting and progressed through various junior ranks, eventually joining the factory Nissan Motorsports Europe team.
Buncombe's career highlights include winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2007 in the LMP2 class with Binnie Motorsports. He later joined Aston Martin Racing in 2009, achieving a podium finish in his debut race at the Nürburgring in the Le Mans Series. Chris has also competed in the FIA GT Championship, driving for JMB Racing in a Ferrari 575M GT1. After a sabbatical from driving, he made a comeback in 2018, winning the Blancpain GT Endurance Championship in Pro-Am. In addition to his on-track accomplishments, Chris is also involved in the hospitality side of motorsport.
In more recent years, Chris has continued to be active in the GT racing scene, participating in the GT World Challenge Europe and driving a McLaren 720S GT3 EVO for Team RJN. Alongside his racing endeavors, Chris is known for his close friendship with Jenson Button, with whom he co-founded Jenson Team Rocket RJN. He is also an avid cyclist and incorporates cycling into his training regime.
