Charlie Martin

Charlie Martin is a British racing driver and LGBTQ+ activist with nearly two decades of experience across various racing disciplines in Europe and North America. Born in Leicester, United Kingdom, Charlie began her racing career in 2006 in hill climb events before transitioning to single-seaters, GT cars, and prototypes. Her mission is to make history as the first transgender driver to compete in the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In 2020, Martin achieved a milestone by becoming the first transgender driver to compete in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, finishing fourth in her class. She has also participated in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and the Britcar Championship. In June 2024, she finished second in class at the support race for the 24 Hours of Le Mans (Lamborghini Super Trofeo support race).

Off the track, Charlie is a prominent advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, working with organizations like Stonewall, Mermaids, Racing Pride, and Athlete Ally. She uses her platform to promote inclusivity and acceptance within motorsport and beyond. She is also a BMW Friend of the Brand and sits on Motorsport UK's committee for LGBTQ+ inclusion.
