Andrea Montermini

Andrea Montermini, born on May 30, 1964, is an Italian racing driver with a diverse career spanning various motorsport disciplines. Known for his tenacity and adaptability, Montermini has competed in Formula One, Champ Car, FIA GT Championship, and more.

Montermini's career began in 1987 and quickly progressed through the ranks. He achieved success in Formula 3, finishing second in the Monaco GP support race in 1989 and securing fourth in the Italian F3 Championship. He then moved to Formula 3000, where he raced for three seasons, ultimately finishing as runner-up in 1992, winning three races with Il Barone Rampante team. In 29 F1 Grand Prix, Montermini debuted on May 29, 1994, for Simtek, stepping in for Roland Ratzenberger. A practice crash in Spain resulted in broken bones, but he returned to F1 with Pacific in 1995 and later drove for Forti in 1996.

Beyond Formula One, Montermini has enjoyed success in GT racing, with two class wins and several podiums in the FIA GT Championship. He won the International GT Open's GTA class in 2007 and secured overall championship titles in 2008 and 2013. He also participated in the American Champ Car series and endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In more recent years, Montermini has worked as a racing commentator for Sky F1 and other Italian TV channels, sharing his insights and experiences with a broad audience.
