Alex Buncombe

Alex Buncombe, born on August 28, 1981, in Taunton, England, is a highly accomplished British racing driver with a career spanning various racing disciplines. Known for his versatility and consistency, Buncombe has made a significant impact in the world of GT racing. He is the brother of Chris Buncombe, also a racing driver.

Buncombe's career gained momentum in the GT4 European Series with RJN Motorsport from 2007 to 2011, where he consistently performed, securing multiple pole positions and wins. His association with RJN Motorsport and Nissan became a defining part of his career. He became a key figure in Nissan's GT Academy program, mentoring graduates like Lucas Ordonez and Jann Mardenborough, helping them transition from virtual racing to professional motorsport.

His achievements include winning the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series Pro Cup Drivers Championship. Buncombe has participated in prestigious endurance races such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Bathurst 12 Hours, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, making his debut at Le Mans in 2015 with the Nissan GT-R LM in LMP1. After more than a decade as a Nissan factory driver, Buncombe departed from the marque in 2019 as Nissan scaled back their racing programs outside Japan. In 2024, he was competing in the Fanatec GT Endurance Cup, driving a McLaren 720S GT3 EVO with teammates Chris Buncombe, Josh Caygill, and Jann Mardenborough.
