Warren Hughes, born on January 19, 1969, is a British racing driver hailing from Sunderland, England. Hughes has enjoyed a diverse and successful career across various racing disciplines, making a name for himself in British Formula Ford, British Formula 3, British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), FIA GT1 World Championship, the Le Mans Series, FIA World Endurance Championship, and the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Hughes' career highlights include winning the LMP2 category at the 2005 24 Hours of Le Mans driving for RML Group. Earlier in his career, he demonstrated exceptional talent in single-seaters, even testing Formula 1 cars for Lotus and Williams. In 1990, he dominated the British Formula Ford championship, securing a record-breaking 19 wins from 24 starts. He also outpaced future F1 stars like Jacques Villeneuve and Rubens Barrichello during his time in Formula 3.
While he no longer actively pursues a full-time racing career, Hughes remains involved in the sport as a driver coach. He has worked with high-profile drivers in series such as W Series, including triple champion Jamie Chadwick, and is associated with teams like Argenti Motorsport, Double R Racing, and Balfe Motorsport. Furthermore, Hughes is a McLaren coach for their global Pure McLaren track program and GT Driver Development Programme, sharing his expertise with aspiring drivers.
