Stephen Simpson

Stephen Simpson, born on January 8, 1984, is a versatile South African-American racing driver with a career spanning various motorsport disciplines. Simpson's racing journey began in karting at the age of eight, where he secured multiple regional and national titles in South Africa. His early success culminated in becoming the youngest-ever South African Formula Ford Champion at 16 in 2000. He then transitioned to racing in Europe, competing in the British Formula Ford Zetec Championship.

Simpson's career took him to the A1 Grand Prix World Cup of Motorsport, representing South Africa. He later moved to the United States in 2006, where he participated in the Champ Car Atlantic Series and the Indy Pro Series. In 2009, he transitioned to sports car racing, competing in the American Le Mans Series and European Le Mans Series. More recently, he has been a fixture in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, securing three victories in the Prototype Challenge, Prototype, Daytona Prototype international, and GT Daytona classes. He also has one Michelin Pilot Challenge Touring Car (TCR) class win with JDC-Miller in 2018.

In addition to his driving career, Simpson has expanded into team ownership, forming Czabok-Simpson Motorsport with Matthias Czabok. The team plans to compete in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and VP Racing SportsCar Challenge with Porsche 718 GT4 RS Clubsport cars, with race operations handled by LAP Motorsport. Simpson became a naturalized US citizen in 2018.
