Sergey Afanasiev, born on March 25, 1988, is a Russian racing driver holding the title of "Master of Sports of Russia." Afanasiev began his racing career in open-wheel racing, specifically in the Formula RUS series in 2003, where he secured three wins. The following year, he clinched the championship title. His early career also included participation in Formula Renault Monza.
Transitioning through various racing series, Afanasiev competed in Formula Renault, Formula 3 Euro Series, and International Formula Master. In 2009, he finished as runner-up in the International Formula Master. He also participated in the FIA Formula Two Championship, securing multiple podium finishes, which led to him earning an FIA Superlicence. In 2013 he won the FIA GT Series.
Afanasiev's career extends into GT racing and Touring Car Racing, including the TCR International Series. In 2019, he won the Lamborghini Super Trofeo championship with the Bonaldi team alongside Danny Kroes. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated versatility across different racing formats, achieving success in both open-wheel and GT categories.
