Richard Cowen is an Australian racing driver who competes in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge Australia series. He drives for McElrea Racing. Cowen entered racing later in life, joining the ranks after being a long-time customer of the Porsche Sport Driving School where he gained experience driving various cars on tracks worldwide. In 2021, he began racing in Australia. 2023 marked his second full year in the Michelin Sprint Challenge championship.
In August 2023, Cowen was involved in an accident during a race at Queensland Raceway, resulting in surgery and a period of recovery. Prior to his racing career, Richard Cowen practiced law, leading a team specializing in commercial litigation and insolvency law. Outside of racing, his interests include freediving, skiing, and spearfishing.
