Michel Ferté, born on December 8, 1958, in Falaise, France, was a versatile and accomplished French racing driver who passed away on January 4, 2023. Ferté demonstrated his skill across various racing disciplines, achieving success in open-wheel racing, touring cars, and sports car racing. He began his racing journey in karting before transitioning to single-seaters, climbing the ranks from Formula Renault and Formula 3 to Formula 2 and Formula 3000.

Ferté secured the French Formula 3 Championship in 1983 and finished third in the European Formula 2 Championship in 1984. In 1990, he was the French vice-champion in touring car racing. His sports car career was highlighted by thirteen starts at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he achieved a notable second-place finish in 1991 driving a Jaguar XJR-12. He also served as a test driver for Ligier in Formula 1 for three seasons.

Later in his career, Ferté ventured into team management, creating his own structure and entering a Ferrari 333 SP in competition in 1997. Throughout his career, Michel Ferté showcased his adaptability and speed, earning recognition as a driver for challenging situations and leaving a lasting impact on French motorsports.
