Michael Wainwright, born on July 25, 1973, is a British racing driver and businessman. Hailing from Worcester, United Kingdom, Wainwright competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship for GR Racing. He began his racing career in his early 20s with go-karts and later transitioned to professional racing.
Wainwright's career highlights include a 5th place finish in class at Le Mans in 2016 and a win at Silverstone in 2015. In addition to racing, Wainwright had a career at the oil trading company Trafigura from 1996 to 2023, where he rose to the position of COO.
In January 2025, Wainwright was sentenced to 32 months in prison, with 20 months suspended, on charges of bribery. He is also the owner of the racing team GR Racing.
