Heikki Johannes Kovalainen, born on October 19, 1981, is a Finnish racing driver who competed in Formula One from 2007 to 2013. Kovalainen's journey in motorsports began at a young age, participating in karting since he was 11 years old and winning the Finnish Formula A Championship in 1999. His talent led him to the British Formula Renault championship in 2002 and a spot in the Renault Driver Development Program.
Kovalainen made his Formula 1 debut in 2007 with Renault, showcasing his skills with a podium finish at the Japanese Grand Prix. He moved to McLaren in 2008, partnering with Lewis Hamilton and achieving his first and only F1 victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix. After his time with McLaren, Kovalainen continued in Formula 1 with Lotus and Caterham until 2013.
Beyond Formula 1, Kovalainen has participated in other motorsports categories, including Super GT, where he won the championship in 2016, and World Rally Championship. Known for his fitness, he has also competed in marathons and triathlons.
