Giancarlo "Giano" Fisichella, born on January 14, 1973, is a highly accomplished Italian racing driver and motorsport executive. Known by his fans as "Fisico" or "Fisi," he competed in Formula One from 1996 to 2009, securing three Grand Prix wins during his 14 seasons. Fisichella's journey in motorsport began in karting, leading to a successful stint in Italian Formula Three, where he won the title in 1994.
Fisichella's Formula One career saw him drive for several teams, including Minardi, Jordan, Benetton, Sauber, Renault, Force India, and Ferrari. His breakthrough moment came with Jordan in 2003 at the Brazilian Grand Prix, where he secured his first Formula One victory in a chaotic race. He later joined Renault, achieving significant success alongside Fernando Alonso, contributing to the team's consecutive Constructors' titles in 2005 and 2006. In 2009, he had the honor of driving for Ferrari, replacing the injured Felipe Massa.
After his Formula One career, Fisichella transitioned to GT racing, achieving considerable success with AF Corse and Iron Lynx. He is a two-time Le Mans 24 Hours class winner (2012, 2014). In 2024, he was crowned champion in the Italian GT Endurance Championship.
