Anthony Leighs

Anthony Leighs is a New Zealand racing driver who has been making a name for himself in the domestic endurance scene. Describing himself as "a bit of a gentleman driver," Leighs returned to competitive motorsport five seasons ago, after initially stepping away due to financial constraints in his younger years as a Formula Ford racer. Now a successful business owner, he initially participated in classic car racing before transitioning to endurance racing.

Leighs spent three years competing in a Porsche 991 Cup Car alongside Paul Kelly, achieving strong results in domestic endurance events. More recently, he has teamed up with Carlyle Performance and Blackbull Markets, piloting an Audi R8 GT3. Leighs has expressed his enthusiasm for the GT3 car, noting its stability and responsiveness, and acknowledging the challenge of adapting to its advanced aerodynamics. In the North Island Endurance Series, he has secured notable finishes, including a second-place finish in the one-hour race at Hampton Downs.

In 2021, Leighs finished second in the one-hour competition of the North Island Endurance Series, driving a first-generation Audi R8 LMS. He partnered with John McIntyre in another Nissan GTR for the Hampton Downs final, showcasing his continued involvement in GT3 racing. Leighs' progression through different racing categories and his recent successes in GT3 cars demonstrate his passion for motorsport and his commitment to honing his driving skills.
