Akihiro Asai, born on September 13, 1975, is a Japanese race car driver with a diverse career spanning various racing disciplines. Asai began his racing journey in open-wheel cars in 1994, quickly demonstrating his talent by securing both the East and West Japanese Formula 4 titles in 1997. His early career also included participation in the Formula Holden Australian Driver's Championship (1998-1999, 2002) and the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship in 2000, showcasing his ambition to compete on an international stage.

Transitioning to GT car racing in 2003, Asai joined Team Taisan in the Japanese GT Championship. He continued to compete in the Japanese GT Championship and Super GT in 2004, 2005, and 2010. In 2005, he also participated in the Super Taikyu Series championship, further broadening his racing experience. Since 2010, Asai has focused on racing in Southeast Asia, achieving significant success, including winning the Supercar Thailand N.A. class Championship in 2011.
