Matías Zagazeta

Matías Zagazeta, born on September 8, 2003, is a Peruvian racing driver making waves in the world of motorsports. Beginning his karting career at the age of eight, Zagazeta quickly distinguished himself by securing multiple national titles. This early success propelled him into international competition, marking his transition to single-seater racing in 2020.

In 2020, Zagazeta joined British F4 with Carlin, where he achieved a 12th place finish. The following year, he demonstrated significant improvement, finishing as the runner-up in the Drivers' Championship. Continuing his ascent through the ranks, Zagazeta moved to the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in 2022, competing in the series for two seasons. In 2024, he stepped up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Jenzer Motorsport, finishing 25th overall, and secured his first podium in the category with a 3rd place in the sprint race at Silverstone. For the 2025 season, Zagazeta has joined DAMS Lucas Oil for his second F3 campaign. In early 2025, he also competed in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship with M2 Competition, achieving a best result of fifth position, along with two wins, four podiums, and 244 points.

Zagazeta describes his racing style as "very calculated," emphasizing his ability to assess situations and strategically alternate between aggressive and conservative approaches. His racing hero is Ayrton Senna, whose style and personality he admires, while also looking up to Fernando Alonso. His most significant racing achievement to date is his near-win in the 2021 British F4 Championship, where he secured 11 podiums and four wins.
