Maximilian Günther, born on July 2, 1997, is a German-Austrian racing driver currently competing under the German flag in Formula E for DS Penske. Günther's career began in karting at the age of 10, and he transitioned to open-wheel racing in 2011. He competed in ADAC Formel Masters, finishing second in 2013. Progressing through the ranks, he entered the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2015 and later Formula 2 in 2018, securing a win at Silverstone.
Günther made his Formula E debut with Dragon Racing in 2018 and later joined BMW i Andretti Motorsport. He achieved his first Formula E victory at the 2020 Santiago ePrix, becoming the youngest race winner in Formula E history at the time. After a stint with Nissan e.dams, he moved to Maserati MSG Racing, achieving a historic win for Maserati in Jakarta, their first in formula racing since 1953. Before the 2024/25 season, Günther switched to DS Penske, partnering with Jean-Eric Vergne.
