Overview

The 2025–26 New Zealand Porsche Race Championship is an officially sanctioned national racing series governed by MotorSport New Zealand Inc and organised by the Porsche Club of New Zealand (Inc). The Championship is conducted under MotorSport New Zealand Sanctioning Permit No. 259019 and is open to eligible Porsche production-based race cars complying with Schedule PC.

All competitors, drivers, and entrants are required to comply with the National Sporting Code, Schedule Z (Standing Regulations for Races), Schedule PC (Technical Regulations), these Championship Articles, and the Supplementary Regulations issued for each individual round.


Championship Structure and Calendar

The Championship consists of six rounds held across New Zealand during the 2025–26 season:

  • Round 1: 24–25 October 2025 – Manfeild: Circuit Chris Amon
  • Round 2: 31 October–2 November 2025 – Hampton Downs Motorsport Park (Enduro)
  • Round 3: 9–11 January 2026 – Hampton Downs Motorsport Park (Enduro)
  • Round 4: 27 February–1 March 2026 – Manfeild: Circuit Chris Amon
  • Round 5: 27–28 March 2026 – Taupo International Motorsport Park (Enduro)
  • Round 6: 24–25 April 2026 – Taupo International Motorsport Park (Enduro)

The Porsche Club of New Zealand reserves the right to amend, cancel, or add rounds due to force majeure without affecting its authority to award Championship titles.


Driver and Entrant Eligibility

All drivers must hold a valid MotorSport New Zealand C1 Grade Competition Licence or higher. Drivers must also be current financial members of the Porsche Club of New Zealand (Inc).

Australian competitors holding Motorsport Australia Circuit Competition Licences and valid Trans-Tasman Visas are eligible to compete and score awards under the Trans-Tasman Visa Agreement.

Each entry may include up to two drivers, with driver changes permitted only during designated Enduro races and only during compulsory timed pit stops.


Vehicle Eligibility and Classes

Only Porsche vehicles complying with Schedule PC are eligible. All vehicles must be submitted for eligibility and safety scrutineering when required.

The Championship includes the following classes:

  • Open Class A: Porsche models not complying with Classes A–B
  • Open Class B: Modified Porsche models or specific legacy and forced-induction models
  • Class A: Porsche 991.1 and 991.2 GT3 Cup (MY2014–2020)
  • Class B: Porsche 997 GT3 Cup and 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport
  • Class C: Porsche 996 GT3 Cup and 981 Cayman GT4 Clubsport
  • Class D: Porsche Cayman S 987.1 (3.4L)
  • Class E: Porsche 924, 944 NA, and pre-964 911 (up to 3.0L)
  • Class F: Porsche Boxster 986 (2.7L)
  • Class G: Porsche Boxster 986 (2.5L)

Open Class vehicles are not eligible for MotorSport New Zealand National Championship points.


Registration and Entry

All competitors must complete a Championship Registration Form and receive written acceptance before participating. The season registration fee is NZD 300 (including GST).

Entry to each round is separate from Championship registration. The round entry fee is NZD 1,100 (including GST) and includes practice sessions and garaging.

Competition numbers are allocated by the Porsche Club of New Zealand.


Event Format

Each round includes:

  • Practice sessions
  • One qualifying session of a minimum of 15 minutes
  • Three races per round

Race formats include Sprint and Enduro events. All races use standing starts, with a combined grid for all classes.

Sprint races are lap-based or time-based depending on the round. Enduro races include mandatory compulsory pit stops, with pit stop duration calculated based on inter-class performance differences.


Enduro Race Regulations

Enduro races require each driver to complete a compulsory timed pit stop or, for certain classes, a pit lane drive-through. Driver changes are permitted only during these compulsory stops.

Pit stop durations are calculated by the Championship Coordinator and announced no later than 30 minutes before race start. Failure to comply results in time penalties or post-race adjustments.


Tyres and Control Tyre Policy

Only tyres specified in Schedule PC are authorised.

  • Classes A–C are subject to controlled slick tyre allocations per round
  • Open Classes have no controlled allocation
  • Classes D–G use Nankang AR-1 tyres with no allocation limit
  • Wet tyres are unrestricted when a meeting is declared wet

All applicable tyres must be presented for marking before qualifying.


Points System

National Championship Points

Points are awarded based on overall finishing position in each race, with 75 points awarded for first place down to 1 point for 30th or lower.

PCNZ Class Championship Points

Class-based points are awarded separately, with a maximum of 40 points for a class win.

Enduro Cup

Enduro races award separate Enduro Cup points using the same scale as National Championship points.

Each competitor must drop one points-scoring round from their Championship total, excluding Enduro Cup points.


Penalties and Scrutineering

Penalties applied under the National Sporting Code may also result in Championship point deductions. Vehicles may be required to enter Parc Fermé for post-race inspection, and all competitors must comply with scrutineering directives.


Awards and Titles

The following awards are presented at the end of the season:

  • MotorSport New Zealand Porsche National Champion
  • Class Champions for each class
  • Enduro Cup Winner
  • Rookie of the Year Award
  • Spirit of the Championship Award (Tim Bailey Memorial Trophy)
  • Steven Neville Memorial Trophy (Classes F and G)

A minimum of three rounds must be completed to be eligible for season awards.


Television, Cameras, and Driver Apparel

All vehicles must be fitted with a forward-facing in-car camera operational during all sessions. Camera data may be used for stewarding and driving standards review.

Drivers must wear approved safety apparel in accordance with Schedule A and Championship sponsor apparel during official interviews.
