Álvaro Barba

Álvaro Barba López, born on February 17, 1984, is a former Spanish racing driver hailing from Seville. He is also the brother of fellow racer Marco Barba. Álvaro began his single-seater career in 2002, competing in the Spanish Formula Junior 1600 series, where he finished as runner-up. He then progressed to the Spanish Formula Three Championship from 2003 to 2005, securing nine podium finishes, including three race wins. His most successful season in this category was in 2005, where he finished 5th overall.

In 2006, Barba stepped up to the Formula Renault 3.5 Series, initially with Jenzer Motorsport and later with International Draco Racing. In 2007, driving for Draco Racing, he achieved two podiums, including a victory at Donington Park, ultimately finishing 8th in the championship. He continued in the series in 2008 with Prema Powerteam, securing further podiums and finishing 10th in the championship.

Barba later transitioned to GT racing, finding success in the International GT Open. He won the championship in 2010 with AF Corse and continued to achieve wins and podiums in subsequent years. His career highlights include the International GT Open champion in 2010, third in GT Open in 2012, one overall and two GTS wins in GT Open 2014.
